Tijuana Adventure

I started making these blog posts into nice Newsletter for social media posts. They look like this. Check it out:

So I’ve been writing with that style in my mind. Newsy and rambling about Tijuana first. Then something related to food and drink. Then sign off with my merch and follow me stuff. Here is what I have for Newsletter #4:

Sim City Tijuana 2025

Welcome to Tijuana 2025. The only constant is change. If you leave for a month, when you come back, it will all be different. I had a tour last week with repeat customers. The last time they were here was in the summer of 2024. A lot of new things already. The new In-n-Out look-alike sign by 7th Street takes away the attention from the arch on 1st Street. It’s also for political gain. They let part of the city go to shit while they fix the parts they own or their rich friends. The shitty parts sell for cheap. They buy it. The government fixes that area. The story of Tijuana. 

They let downtown go to shit. Swoop in and buy a ton of property that used to be druggie dens. Demolish and blame it on a fire. Build a massive residential or commercial tower. Rinse. Repeat. Welcome to Tijuana.

New Avenida Revolución. No more cars. It will be a walkway only. Because fuck those parking lots (and that’s fine). It’s good for tourism. It’s good for me. But it also takes the charm out of Revu when you make it another generic city walkway. Now with Deadpool and Pikachu, soon an Elmo and a naked cowboy with a guitar. Hey! That could be me.

A new gigantic highway, Playas to the east side. People in Playami don’t want to deal with the traffic to get to the border or the airport. 

A new Otay border, supposedly for commercial trucks only, alleviates the other Otay border and border congestion in general.

New drainage system everywhere. Demolish the city to rebuild it because it was built incorrectly. There is often raw sewage in my street. When it rains, a river of caca flows down. Sometimes, no rain is necessary, and the sewage under the street overflows, and my street smells. All of Tijuana smells. The diaper is full. Time to change it so it can be full of shit again and toss it all into the ocean. Welcome to Tijuana 2025.

Food and Drink:

There is a new sushi place called Ishiro. They are offering an all-you-can-eat for 300 pesos (roughly $17). If you think that is too good to be true, it’s because… it is. I went with my girlfriend, and it’s your standard Mexican Suchi. It ain’t bad, but it isn’t good. But for 300 pesos, yeah, that’s way too cheap. I don’t think they’ll have that offer for much longer. Or who knows.

They never brought me my nigiris. And they ran out of tuna. I still got my money’s worth and more. So I was happy. Horrible service and probably on purpose.

They would be way better if they had 300 pesos for a limited menu of some sort. But it’s all you can eat of almost everything. Of course, I went straight to the sashimi and nigiris. They only brought us two sashimi plates, and they were more like tiradito than sashimi. I care not. It’s delicious fresh fish. The rolls were basic. Nothing high-end but tasty nonetheless. 

They never brought me my nigiris.

Oh well. 

I also visited Innato and Club Ocampo, two of the new and trendiest places in Tijuana. But that will have to wait until the next newsletter… so subscribe now!
